Earn or boost rewards by acquiring adjoining tiles

The Land Cluster Boost is one of the ways landowners can boost their rewards through their in-world activity and land portfolio.

Land Cluster Boost (LCB) can serve as a multiplier for other reward schemes or may yet be deployed as a reward system in itself. Here's what you need to know:

Basic LCB is equal to the number of Tb (touching borders)

pax.world tiles are hexagonal, which means they have six equal border sections, each shared with one of the six surrounding tiles.

1 "touching border" for LCB is one shared border between two tiles owned by you. If you own two tiles side by side, the most Tb you can have is 1. If you own 3 tiles in a grouping, you might have 2 touching borders (if they are in a line) or 3 touching borders (if they are in a cluster, each tile touching the other two, as in example A below).

As the examples A-E below demonstrate, the potential number of touching borders starts to race ahead of the number of tiles as the cluster increases, and the specific configuration of the tiles has a significant effect on the number of touching borders - tight clusters beat snakes and loops.

(D) above demonstrates that long, snaking "walls" of tiles across the map are inefficient in terms of touching borders: (D) has only one tile fewer than (C), but half as many touching borders.

(B) above shows that not only are loops less efficient at generating touching borders than tight clusters, they are also penalized: the number of touching borders is halved. This includes full, closed loops but also partial loops closed by a natural barrier such as the edge of preserved land or the water.

In the above example, the owned tiles (yellow) do not completely encircle the pink tiles but, by trapping them against the water, still has the effect of forming an enclave. This is the same as complete encirclement, and the Tb number will be halved. Therefore, LCB = 6/2 = 3.
